Attention: Salon & barber Owners

What are the benefits of having an apprentice in your shop?

With traditional beauty schools, students learn in an isolated environment. With an Apprenticeship program, students work in a hands-on environment from the beginning, gaining valuable real life experiences.

There is a huge opportunity to train and mentor based on your preferred methods. You’ll have the opportunity to teach them the things that make your salon unique, the things that keep your clients returning. In doing this, they will learn customer service, as well invaluable industry skills.

It will be a great benefit to you, as well, as you see profitable results by having someone help to manage your workload. You will have someone by your side learning day to day, a protege that will not only learn from you, but help your business to prosper!

In doing so, our students learn far more than the requirements to pass the State Board Exam. They learn how to succeed in their forthcoming career.

How does it work?

In order to complete the state requirements, students will need to be enrolled in a program like ours while simultaneously working in a paid position for at least 32 hours per week. In addition, they will attend our class one day per week.

While working in a salon or barbershop, these students will have a Cosmetology Apprenticeship License, which permits them to perform any service that a licensed Cosmetologist/Barber can, but under the supervision of a trainer.

Who can be a Trainer?

The only requirement that the State Board of Barbering & Cosmetology has for a Trainer is that they be a licensed Cosmetologist/Barber for at least two years with no outstanding fines. Trends Academy has a simple form for you to fill-out to register yourself as a Trainer and then you will need to sign your Apprentice’s training log each month. That’s it!

Please contact Patty Hosner by phone at: 707-324-9379 or by e-mail at: trendsacademyca@gmail.com if you have any questions about the program or if you are interested in interviewing one of our students. We would also love to hear from you if you know of any potential students that may be interested in our program. Thanks in advance!
